Francisco Jimenez was born in Tlaquepaque, México. He was a Mexican boy whose family wanted to move to America to find a better life. They could not find a way to pass legally so his family snuck through to America. For several years He had to work in a field in California always worrying if the border police would catch them. Then he dreamed of going to school and so he followed his dream and went to school. Life became normal for him until he hit 8TH grade. The border police came and took Francisco back to México, he was devastated knowing that he could no longer get a good education but then shortly afterwards his family talked with the government and became legal and Francisco lived once again in California. Now he writes books like the circuit, Breaking through, and La Mariposa to explain how horrible and how hard it is it is to be an illegal immigrant. He is now currently a Professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures.
I was born October 3, 1994 in San Diego, CA. My parents wanted to save money so they built a house in Tijuana and we lived there for about 3 years then my parents finally decided to move back to America. We bought a really big house next to H Street and we stayed there in that house for about 5 years. Then my parents could not afford the house anymore so they wanted to move into a new house but then the house was not finished building and we already had sold our old house so we were forced to move into our grandma’s old house. We stayed there for about 2 years and we couldn’t wait anymore so we bought another house around the same area. We stayed there for about 2 years and by that time I was in 6th grade. Then our house was finally finished and we moved there and now we have been living in this house for about 2 years now.
